「この調べに漏れては国民の恥です」「我国創始の一大事業」「有りのままを申告す」 　５年に１度、１０月１日の時点で日本に住んでいるすべての人を対象に実施される国勢調査は、今年で１９回目の実施。初めて行われた１９２０（大正９）年の調査の際、岐阜県がＰＲ用に配った絵はがきとビラが愛知県内で見つかった。 　保管していたのは愛知県知多市の和田英雄さん（７３）。在野の考古学研究者で昭和４０年代に名古屋市内の古書店で購入し、長い間、中身を確認することなく、自宅に保管していたという。 　絵はがきとビラは「岐阜県臨時国勢調査部発行」と印刷された紙袋入り。絵はがきは灯台の絵を印刷したものなど３種類あった。 　ビラは４種類。上空の飛行機からばらまいたらしい。 　総務省統計資料館によると、当時、国が啓発用の絵はがきを数種類作って調査員に配った。ただ、地方の県や市が独自で発行したものもあり、詳細は不明だという。
