Microsoftは、メニューバーの項目をすべて大文字表記にした「all-caps menu」をVisual Studio 2012で採用する計画だという(Visual Studio team blogの記事、 本家/.)。 すでにMicrosoftはWindows AzureのポータルサイトやZune、Bingの検索結果画面では、英語など複数の言語版でメニューをすべて大文字表記にしており、Visual Studio 2012も共通化するねらいがある。また、すべて大文字で表記することで、メニューの構造をわかりやすく、メニューバーの存在を強調することも可能だとしている。ただし、すべて大文字で表記すると非常に読みにくくなるため、「ユーザービリティやユーザーを無視している」との批判の声も上がっているようだ。 日本語版にはあまり影響はないだろうが、ほかのアプリケーションでもこれが採用されるかどうか
