筆者はボカロPとしてニコニコ動画をはじめ、YouTubeやSoundCloudに自身の楽曲をアップしていますが、最近になってYouTubeが他二つのサイトに比べて音が小さいのではないか?と感じていました。それがどうも思い過ごしではなかったようです。昨日になってこんなニュースを見つけました。 YouTubeがラウドネス規格を導入したらしい | g200kg Music & Software これがどういう事かというと、今まで動画ごとにバラバラだった音量を自動的に一定の基準に揃えますよ、という事です。*1動画サイトや音楽サイトユーザーの皆さんは、再生するコンテンツ毎に手元のボリュームを上げたり下げたりした経験があると思いますが、今後YouTubeに関してはその煩わしさが無くなります。TVでは2012年10月から導入されていたラウドネス規格ですが、ついにネット上でもその導入が始まったのです!*2
http://productionadvice.co.uk/youtube-loudness/ もともとはTV放送で「CMの音量だけがでかい」なんていう問題から始まったラウドネス規格。簡単に言えばみんな音がデカけりゃ良いって思ってるけど好き勝手やらずに人間の耳で聴いたときの音量をちゃんと揃えようぜ、っていう話。ITU-R BS.1770とか日本ではARIB TR-B32という規格で人間が感じる音量を精度良く測る方法が決められています。音量を表す単位としてはLKFSとかLUFSが使われます。 放送系だけで頑張ってたイメージなんだけど、YouTubeがこれを導入したらしいです。これで何が変わるかというと全体的に音量はかなり下がる方向になります。そして重要なのは再生した時にどの動画も同じ音量で鳴る、という事です。 素晴らしいね! YouTubeなんかは特に雑多なソースがあるわけだから効果が大きい
