「傍観者にならないで」「声を上げよう」。学校でのいじめ防止に向け、米国のNPOなどが、テレビやインターネットを使ったキャンペーン広告を10月から始めることを決めた。いじめは米国でも深刻化し社会問題となっており、オバマ政権もキャンペーンを支援する。AP通信によると、首都ワシントンで7日まで開かれた「いじめ防止サミット」で、CMの映像などが公開された。 米疾病対策センター(CDC)の2009年の調査によると、日本の中学3年から高校3年に当たる学年の生徒のうち約2割がいじめられた経験を持つ。 サミットに出席したセベリウス厚生長官は、いじめを苦にした自殺、インターネットや携帯電話を通じたいじめの陰湿化を特に問題視。いじめ防止を「国家として取り組むべき優先事項」と位置付け、教育関係者や政府当局者だけでなく、あらゆる人が「自分の問題」としていじめと向き合うよう訴えた。(共同)
