Sends GNTP (Growl Network Transport Protocol) notifications when downloads start, finish, fail, or are cancelled. Also allows webpages and userscripts to send their own Growl notifications directly from Javascript. Requires a version of Growl that supports GNTP, such as Growl for Windows (http://www.growlforwindows.com) or Growl 1.3+ on OSX (http://growl.info).
