The discontinuation of raspberry pi has been announced on the RS website in Japan. According to an email sent to customers, it appears that all vendors' manufacturing licenses, including RS, were terminated on July 1 in order to review the product's manufacturing structure. Is there an official announcement on this? https://jp.rs-online.com/web/content/m/raspberrypi-faq

Hi folk. Im just learning about the RasPi. I have a small network at home which I want to connect my Pi to (desktop unit + a couple of laptops). How do I get it to see the network and the network to see it? On my main pc Im running win 10 through a BT hub 5. The hub can see all the devices including the Pi but none of them can see the Pi or visa versa. can anyone help please? Edit: I should add th
Hi all, I've overclocked my Raspberry Pi to 850. To do this, I did a manual change to the /boot/config.text file that reads: arm_freq=850 sdram_freq=500 When I run two different commands to determine my true CPU clock speed I get two different results. 1. cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_cur_freq I get 700000 2. vcgencmd get_config arm_freq I get arm_freq=850 Which command is givin

Hello, Raspbian (2015-11-21-raspbian-jessie.zip SHA1: ce1654f4b0492b3bcc93b233f431539b3df2f813) doesn't enable hardware random number generator by default. This causes generation of predictable SSH host keys on the first boot. As soon as the systems starts up systemd-random-seed tries to seed /dev/urandom, but /var/lib/systemd/random-seed is missing, because it hasn't been created yet. /etc/rc2.d/

Hi Raspies ! I've been playing for a while with a Raspberry 2 with Raspbian Squeezy, following an Openframeworks (www.openframework.cc) thread. So right now i've a 3.18.7-v7+ kernel ... I'm willing to use the Enttec Open DMX usb to dmx controller. I've first installed the FTDI drivers from it's website and got to install the libftd2xx1.1.12_Release. I've 2 types of USB-DMX Enttec controllers : the

Itunes is closed source, and only runs on intel CPU (x86) based systems (Windows and Mac OS X). Because its closed source it cannot be converted to work with Linux, not to run on

Over the weekend I began experimenting with the camera board. I wanted to process the raw h264 stream coming out of raspivid to segment it. [First of all: read here about about SPS/PPS and the Raspberry Pi Camera https://github.com/AndyA/psips. Thanks Andy!] I tried using the installed aconv to segment the resulting video stream, but to no avail. I had hoped to avoid compiling ffmpeg, but in the e

I have discovered that my PI2 is camera-shy ! Taking it's picture with a flash causes an instant power off ! I've done it three times now and same thing happens each time. First two times I didn't realise what had happened as I wasn't looking at the screen at the time and only noticed a few minutes afterwards. Third time I did it just to watch the screen.... Instant power off..... Any ideas ? Pete

I recently got my Raspberry PI and using Raspbian but had an abundant amount of time trying to figure out why every r
This is a post on the Piracast project, source code released under GPL: https://github.com/codemonkeyricky/piracast To compile and run, see README in the repository. Limitations: - Only works with TP-LINK TL-WN725N (Miracast requires hardware support, so it can't run on all Wifi dongles. I've only included the driver for this specific dongle). The specific one I have is a V2 (version 2). - Only wo

I've got some basic prototyping example code for this type of thing that you are welcome to experiment with. Task: Virtualise Raspbian Wheezy 2013-02-09 on Ubuntu Linux 12.10 Why?/What do I get? It's a pretend Raspberry Pi, running completely in software, on your desktop, that you can use as if it is a real one (minus the ports and GPIO obviously). LXDE (Desktop) runs, and the internet/network is connected. You can SSH into it, make copies of it, trash it, start a new one from a previous saved copy, and

Here is my solution for racking Raspberry Pis, using a block of plyboard and the audio and video jacks as mounts. This allows simple plugging in and out.

It's certainly not fast by any means, MapReduce jobs are more like tiny data crunching, but at least you can amass a surprising amount of HDFS storage. Why do this? To see if it can be done! I had a stack of Pis that I wasn't quit
I've been trying to make sure I properly understand the Raspberry Pi boot process. What I understand so far, mostly from the config.txt thread, is this: When the Raspberry Pi is first turned on, the ARM core is off, and the GPU core is on. At this point the SDRAM is disabled. The GPU starts executing the first stage bootloader, which is stored in ROM on the SoC. The first stage bootloader reads th
