If you are affected by the changes to Kindle downloads and yet don't have a Kindle device, there's now another solution: Kindle for Android. You don't need an Android device, thanks to Bluestacks. As I do not have a Prime a
KFX Conversion Input Plugin Amazon uses KFX format for the delivery of most e-books to customers. It supports Enhanced Typesetting and Page Flip on Kindle apps and devices. More information about KFX format can be found in the KFX Format thread and the MobileRead Wiki (KFX). The KFX Input plugin allows books in KFX format to be imported and converted to other e-book formats, such as EPUB, for arch
Dealing with Kindle for PC/Mac 1.19 (and later) and KFX in calibre It is possible to import into calibre and convert the vast majority of books downloaded using the latest release of Kindle for PC (version 2.3.5) or Kindle Classic for Mac (version 1.40.3) as long as both the DeDRM (version 10.0.9 beta) and KFX Input plugins are installed in calibre. Some books that Amazon always delivers with the
Hi! If anyone is in doubt if Android can fully replace original Kobo software for reading I did a few changes to give you best reading experience! Modified version of coolreader3 has full screen refreshes after (configurable) number of page turns. No more "ghosts" during reading!! You can modify any other open source reader software (like FBReader) to behave the same - to know how to do it just lo

This means that this will always point to the latest available versions (think rolling releases). They're grouped here in a single post as a convenience, both for me (much easier & faster to upload), and for you (that's the easiest way to get properly arra
Device: Kobo: Not just an eReader, it's an adventure! This thread is for direct links to Kobo firmware. Release dates are taken from the first post of the release thread or from firmware zip file date adjusted for time zones. The release date could be incorrect by a day due to timezone issues. Versions tagged with a letter are different releases with the same version number, these letters are not
Most of this post now by pdurrant. KindleUnpack is a set of python scripts that take a Kindle/Mobipocket ebook and extracts the HTML, images and metadata contained in the ebook, and puts them in a form suitable for passing to KindleGen. For KF8 files and combined Mobipocket and KF8 files, it also can produce separated mobipocket and KF8 files, and also the original source files if those are includ
Be careful what hacks you install on a jailbroken Paperwhite. Debricking still requires using the serial port, until we discover how to get it into USB Downloader mode. The compatible K5 (touch) hacks need to be repackaged for the Paperwhite, because of its different serial number prefix. I have yifanlu's "simple usbNet" hack installed (repackaged for the Paperwhite by NiLuJe). After searching for
use the usbnetworking hack provided in earlier threads. add the attached file to the bin folder of the usbnet - kindle should be in USB mode when doing this. ssh into your kindle copy sftp-server to /usr/libexec/ reboot your device and woila you can now access your kindles filesystem over wifi and sync that way. (use the IP) on mac use transmit 4 or macfusion to automatically mount the kindle for
Device: Kindle 2i, 3g, 4, 5w, PW, PW2, PW5; Kobo H2O, Forma, Elipsa, Sage, C2E This is a giant thread in which you'll find the custom ScreenSavers, custom Fonts & USBNetwork hacks for all non Touch Kindle devices (Kindle 2/DX/DXG/3/4), along with the Kindle 2/DX/DXG/3 JailBreak. I know it's a bit daunting, but please bear with me, it'll be worth it . First things first, a huge thanks to the origin

Zipping a folder of files to make an ePub isn't as easy — the folder needs to be zipped in a specific way. Here's an AppleScript application that does all the hard work for you. Just drag the folder of files onto the Applescript application, and your epub will be created. For later versions of MacOS, permissions need to be given: After downloading, make sure it will launch by double-clicking the i
I got a running copy of the latest Debian release (lenny) on the kindle via chroot, seems to work quite nice! Created a 700mb ext3-container-file in the /mnt/us directory. If anyone is interested I could upload the container file somewhere. (should be max. 150mb compressed)
Update 2: The working PHP source is now available here! Update: Added the missing switch table. You probably know about Google's PageRank. PageRank is Google's indicator for the general importance of a page. To display PageRanks, you need Google's toolbar (browser plug-in for IE). Well, there is also a way to display PageRanks without the toolbar. You can request directly the PageRank of domain.co
03:20 AM by ZodWallop in E-Book General | News Last Call for Mass Market Paperbacks Mass market paperbacks have long been on their death bed and now the plug has been pulled. I kinda wonder if that format was the most impacted by ebooks? I do think in part it was killed by big publishers realizing they could sell trade paperbacks for $15-20 instead of the $6-7 of the mass market. 09:58 AM by jhowe
