Back in December we ported a few of our Geekbench workloads to Swift and compared their performance to the C++ implementations. With last week's announcement of a beta release of Xcode 6.3 we thought it would be a good time to revisit those results. In this post we find out whether the performance improvements in Xcode 6.3 Beta provide any speedup for our Swift workloads. The following table shows
From the table you can see Apple has moved from dual- and quad-core processors in the "Late 2012" lineup to dual-core processors across the entire "Late 2014" lineup. How much this change will affect multi-core performance? Will the new Mac minis be slower than the old Mac minis? Unfortunately there are no Geekbench results for the new Mac minis in the Geekbench Browser to help us answer this ques

While Geekbench 2 results for most of last week's new Macs were quickly uploaded to the Geekbench Browser, it took a while for 13-inch MacBook Pro results to appear. Now that almost a week has passed, hundreds of results for the 13-inch MacBook Pro have been uploaded. The chart below shows the average Geekbench 2 score for the 13-inch MacBook Pros and the 13-inch MacBook Airs from the last three y

Even though Apple's new MacBook Pros look like the old MacBook Pros, there's a lot that's new and exciting under the hood, like a completely new peripheral interface (Thunderbolt) and the new AMD GPUs. What I'm most excited about are the new Sandy Bridge processors (especially now that Apple finally has a quad-core laptop). What I was curious to know, though, was how fast are these new processors?

Right now I'm busy working on Geekbench 2.2 so I've only done an abbreviated performance comparison of the new MacBook Airs that Apple released last week. I've grabbed Geekbench 2 scores from the Geekbench Browser for all of the MacBook Air models, as well as the latest 13-inch MacBook Pro models (it being the most logical comparison outside of the Air lineup). I've also included scores for the iP
