pytyrant is a pure python client implementation of the binary Tokyo Tyrant protocol. Tokyo Cabinet http://tokyocabinet.sourceforge.net/ is a "super hyper ultra database manager" written and maintained by Mikio Hirabayashi and released under the LGPL.
