Mozilla Japanは30日、現在開発が進められているモバイル向けWebブラウザ「Fennec」、iPhone向けアプリ「Firefox Home」を解説する説明会を開催した。 AndroidでもPCと同じ表示を実現する「Fennec」 モバイルブラウザFennecは、もともとMozillaがノキアの携帯電話「N800」に搭載したブラウザで、ノキアが採用しているスマートフォンOSである「Maemo」向けに開発されたもの。当初MaemoにはOperaブラウザが採用されてきたが、「モバイル向けではなく、PC向けのWebサイトをそのまま表示したかった」(Mozilla Japanテクニカルアドバイザ加藤誠氏)というニーズから、Firefoxのブラウザエンジン「Gecko」ベースのFennecが採用されたという。Fennecはその後、「N900」にも採用されている。 Android向けFen
