去年の春先に Gateway の Vista 機を購入したのだが、これがなぜか恐ろしく動作が鈍く、メモリを増やしても改善しないので 1ヶ月も使わないうちに使用を断念した。 それ以来長いこと放置していたのだが、あまりにもったいないので Fedora Core をインストールしてテスト機として使ってみようと思い立った。 手元に FC 3 のディスクがあったので、とりあえずそれをインストール。 しかし、世間にはすでに FC8 が出回っている。どうせなら FC8 にしよう。 以前「Fedora Core 3 -> Fedora Core 4 -> Fedora Core 5 アップグレード」で書いたような手順でアップグレードすると、かなり遠い道のりになってしまうし、特に必要なデータがあるわけではないので、まるごと上書きインストールすることにする。 まずは、FC8 DVD の ISO イメージのダウ
カーネル2.4.xにはISOイメージをマウントする機能があるので、ISOイメージからファイルを取り出すことができる。Red Hat Linux 7.3やTrubolinux 8 Workstation、Vine Linux 2.5はデフォルトでその機能が有効になっているので、mountコマンドでマウント可能だ。 ISOイメージをマウントするには、以下のコマンドを実行する。 # mkdir /mnt/iso ←マウントポイント作成 # mount -t iso9660 -o loop psyche-i386-disc1.iso /mnt/iso # ls /mnt/iso/ EULA README.zh_CN RELEASE-NOTES-zh_TW.html GPL README.zh_TW
