Amazonは、A9.com Yellow Pagesのために開発したBlock View技術を使った画像付き地図検索サービス「A9.com Maps」のβ版を公開した。米国20都市で約3000万枚の写真を用意しているという。 米Amazon.com傘下の検索サービスA9.comが、地図検索で現地の様子を実際に写した写真を表示できるサービスを開始した。通りに並ぶ店の模様や周辺の雰囲気が目の高さから参照できるが、今のところ写真があるのは米主要都市の一部ストリートのみ。 A9.comで開発した新技術を使い、デジタルカメラ、GPS受信機、独自ソフトとハードを装備したトラックから通り沿いの光景を写真撮影、地図検索でこの写真を表示できるようにした。 地図検索ページで目的地の住所を入力し、「Streets Containing Images」のチェックボックスをオンにすると、周辺で写真のある通りが強調
