光合成細菌を窒素肥料に
理化学研究所（理研）環境資源科学研究センター バイオ高分子研究チームの沼田 圭司 チームリーダー（京都大学 大学院工学研究科 教授）、シャミタ・ラオ・モレ-ヤギ 客員研究員（京都大学 大学院工学研究科 特定助教）、京都大学 大学院農学研究科の木下 有羽 助教、元木 航 助教（研究当時）らの共同研究グループは、破砕・乾燥処理した海洋性の非硫黄紅色光合成細菌[1]のバイオマス[2]が作物栽培の窒素肥料として利用可能であることを明らかにしました。 本研究成果は、既存の窒素肥料に替わる持続可能な窒素肥料の開発に貢献すると期待できます。 海洋性の非硫黄紅色光合成細菌であるRhodovulum sulfidophilumは窒素と二酸化炭素の固定が可能であり、これを破砕・乾燥処理したバイオマスは11％（重量比）もの窒素を含有しています。共同研究グループはそのバイオマスを肥料として利用し、植物がバイオマス
