米Yahoo!、位置情報プラットフォーム「Fire Eagle」を公開
米Yahoo!は8月12日、ユーザーが自分の位置情報をWebで活用できるオープンプラットフォーム「Fire Eagle」を一般公開した。 Fire Eagleでは、ユーザーは自分の位置情報をWeb上に保存して管理でき、開発者はその位置情報を活用したサービスやアプリケーションを開発できる。例えば、友人を探したり、レストランを見つけるなどのサービスを構築できる。ユーザーは共有する位置情報のレベル（国、州、通り）や、自分の情報を提供したいサービスやアプリケーションを詳細に設定することができる。 Fire Eagleは3月から非公開βテストを行っており、既に同プラットフォームを利用したサービスが幾つか登場している。例えば、SNSのBrightkiteはFire Eagleを使って、ユーザーが友人の居場所を追跡できる機能を提供している。GPSナビゲーションシステムDashや、旅行プラン共有サービスD
