Twitter、SMS技術のCloudhopperを買収
米Twitterは4月23日（現地時間）、SMS技術を手掛ける新興企業、米Cloudhopperを買収したと発表した。買収総額などの詳細は公表していない。 Cloudhopperは、ワシントン州シアトルに拠点を置く2008年創業のソフトウェア企業。北米、欧州、アフリカで、SMSおよびMMSのメッセージングシステムを提供している。買収後、同社設立者のジョー・ラウエル氏と従業員のクリスティン・カナール氏はTwitterのモバイルチームに加わる。 TwitterはCloudhopperのメッセージングシステムを利用して、Twitterを世界各国の通信キャリアネットワークと直接接続できるようにする計画だ。Twitterは現在、1カ月当たり10億近いSMSでのツイートを処理しており、その数はインドネシアやオーストラリア、英国、米国などで増加しているという。 企業向け情報を集約した「ITmedia エ
