AOLは希望者に無料でドメイン名を提供するサービスを始めると発表した。 ただし、そのドメイン名を所有するのは、ユーザーではなくAOLになる。9月から始まるこのサービスでは、ユーザーは取得したドメインを電子メールやホームページのアドレスとして利用できる。ユーザーの友人、家族、同じクラブや組織、スポーツのチームのメンバーなどでそのアドレスを共同利用することもできる。 これは面白いアイデアで、ドメイン名を買いたいとは思っているが、その手間をかける時間がない人などの注目を集める可能性は高い。通常、ドメイン名を買うと、ホスティングサービスを提供する企業に毎月数ドルほど払う必要があるが、今回提供されるサービスではこの問題も解決してくれる。AOLは追加料金なしですべての面倒を見てくれる。 このサービスには「AOL My eAddress」という名前がつけられている。AOLの発表によると、このサービスでは
