東京・池袋にあるホテルのカフェテラスで、中国籍の男による拳銃発砲事件が起こった。池袋といえばつい先日、脱法ドラッグを吸った男の運転する車の暴走事件があったばかりだ。 相次いで大きな事件が発生し、「最近の池袋は、物騒だな」「池袋で働くの辞めようかな」などとネットに書き込まれている。 暴走事故現場から約300メートル 報道によると2014年7月6日、中国籍の男（54）が、妻と見られる50代女性をいきなり拳銃で撃ち殺した。女性と口論になってバッグから回転式の拳銃を取りだし、胸とあごを打ったという。男は店員に取り押さえられて殺人未遂容疑で現行犯逮捕された。当時、店には10人以上客がいたが、けが人はいなかった。警察の取り調べに対して男は黙秘し、犯行の動機や銃の入手経路は明らかになっていない。 犯行現場となったのはサクラホテル池袋別館1階にあるカフェテラス「サクラカフェ池袋」。実は5日に脱法ドラッグを

〜アシモフの未来図をその未来に検証する〜 1960年代に描かれた21世紀初頭 このページでは、トリビアの泉で一般にも知られるようになったかのSF作家アイザック・アシモフが1960年代中頃に書いた2編のエッセイについてその内容を検証していきます。そのエッセイとは、 早川書房刊「アシモフの科学エッセイ（4）生命と非生命のあいだ」 に収録されている、「1990年の世界」と「2014年の世界博覧会」です。二つのエッセイが予想した年代のちょうど間にはさまれた2005年にこのような雑文を掲載する理由は、そう、今年(2005)まさに日本において「世界博覧会愛・地球博」が行われているからです。アシモフが予想した50年後の博覧会と実際に行われた40年後の博覧会を比較するチャンスは今しかないのです。（2014年にはどうせみんな愛・地球博の事なんか忘れてます） さて肝心の内容ですが、アシモフ自身が「未来を予測
