Googleは米国時間5月12日、提携サイトのデータポータビリティを可能にする「Friend Connect」を発表すると見られる。情報ブログTechCrunchはこのFriend Connectについて、「ソーシャルネットワーク内で設定されたプロフィール情報をOpen Socialに参加するサードパーティサイトでも活用可能にするためのAPI」ではないかと見ている。 FacebookとMySpaceは先週、すでにユーザーデータをパートナーサイトに移植する手段を発表しており、Googleも両社に追随する形。Facebookが発表した「Facebook Connect」もFriend Connectと同様の機能を持ち、ユーザーは友人、プロフィール写真、イベントなど、ウェブで使用しているデータをパートナーサイトに移植できる。またMySpaceも8日にData Availabilityを発表した。
