プログラミングというよりコンピュータにすら関係ないが、今日はTOEICと留学の話をしようと思う。 成果 2010年9月: 425点 2011年8月: 970点 背景 僕が英語を勉強しはじめたのは去年の9月、オーストラリアに語学留学した時だ。 留学すれば英語ができるようになるという根拠のない確信の元、事前の勉強無しで海外に飛び立った。 当時の英語力はほぼゼロに近い状態であり、諸事情で中学2年の知識の残りかす程度しか持っていなかった。 留学 おそらく、留学すれば自動的に英語が喋れるようになるというイメージを持っている人は多いと思う。僕も留学するまではそう思っていた。 しかし、現実は甘くない。勉強という形を取らずに自然に言語を覚えられるのは幼児だけである。 親切にma-maと1000回話しかけてくれる人がいない僕らは、教材を使って勉強しなければならない。 そこで、語学学校という選択肢が出てくる。
katsuya @self_agenda 今日は、5月に受けたTOEICで900点まであと10点という結果だったので、半年前の770点の時から何をしてきたかということを書きます。時間が遅くなってしまったので途中で終わるかも知れませんが、頑張ります! katsuya @self_agenda まずTOEIC対策以前のベースとして、iPhoneでAudiobookやPodcastを毎日聴きました。家から一歩外に出たらイヤホンを付けて英語を流して、電車に乗っても歩いても会社に着く迄ずっと聴いて、家でも聴きました。読む方では、7つの習慣の英語版を4ヶ月かけて読みきりました。 katsuya @self_agenda その上で、中村澄子先生のTOEIC対策本を読み、公式問題集Vol3とVol4、あともう1冊ちょっと難しめだけど去年買ってしまった問題集をやり込みました。何度かやると問題を覚えてしまいま
iPhoneアプリ:TOEICの試験を社員に課す企業が増えてきています。三井住友銀行も、総合職全員にTOEIC800点以上を求めていくとしています(asahi.com「めざせTOEIC800点 三井住友銀、総合職全員に」)。 また調査会社「マークスJP」によると、「現在、英語の勉強をしている」と答えた人の割合は、2005年には15%だったものが2010年には19%に増加しています(詳しくはこちら)。英会話を身につけたいという人が確実に増えていることがデータからもわかります。 そのような状況下で必要となってくるのが、やはり英語を勉強する時間。特に社会人になると、勉強する時間が限られます。休日の午前中や会社帰りに喫茶店で勉強している社会人をよく見かけますが、学生時代に比べれば勉強できる時間も圧倒的に少なくなってしまいます。 となると、通勤時間に気軽に勉強でき、かつゲーム感覚で楽しめるモノが欲し
