Twitter、Tweetieを買収し、無料の「Twitter for iPhone」として公開へ
TwitterがiPhoneアプリの人気Twitterクライアント「Tweetie」を提供するAtebitsを買収し、Tweetieを初の公式アプリ「Twitter for iPhone」として公開する。 米Twitterは4月9日（現地時間）、iPhoneアプリ「Tweetie」を提供する米Atebitsを買収することで合意に達したと発表した。取引の詳細は公表していない。 TweetieはMacおよびiPhone向けのTwitterクライアントで、iPhone向けの「Tweetie 2」は2.99ドルの有料アプリだが人気が高く、米Appleが優秀なアプリを表彰する「Apple Design Award」の2009年受賞製品でもある。 Twitterは向こう数週間のうちにTweetieを「Twitter for iPhone」と改称し、無料でiTunesのApp Storeで提供を開始する
