Presenting our favorite albums of 2022... As a site that's always been hyperfocused on discovery and emerging artists, this was my favorite kind of year for new music: endless pleasant surprises from new faces, a spectacular top 10 dominated by artists we didn't expect to end up there, a few new classics from old favorites, and as always, a disproportionately high number of Canadians. Presenting our favorite albums of 2020: Every one of these year-end intro blurbs will be the same this year, but it's worth mentioning that the way we listened to music was fundamentally changed by the Groundhog Day isolation and uncertainty we experienced collectively this year, and that is definitely reflected in our list. It was an undeniably great year for new music though, and we had to leave

Discovering new favorites will always remain a priority around here, but it felt good to devote more quality time to absorbing ambitious, flawed, elaborately nuanced and layered masterpieces
We feel pretty confident proclaiming 2015 the best year for new music this decade, and we'd even go so far as to say it's been arguably our favorite year in the history of this site.
