先日、世界中を「ブリタニカ百科事典の書籍版の出版は終了」というニュースが駆け巡りました。海外メディアは大ニュースっぽく扱っていましたが、日本ではそうでもないようです。 関連記事：WSJ日本版、TechCrunch Japan、CNN.co.jp、ITmedia 写真：ブリタニカ・ジャパン その理由は明らかで、ブリタニカ・ジャパンのサイト見ればわかるとおり、すでに日本では "英語版ではない日本語版の" ブリタニカ百科事典の書籍版は存在しないからです。だから筆者のような辞書・事典好きな人には「それが何か？」状態だったりします。 類似の "事件" でショックだったのは、マイクロソフトのビッグプロジェクトだった「エンカルタ総合大百科」の販売終了です（Microsoft、オンライン百科事典「MSN Encarta」終了）。まあ、こちらはマルチメディア製品（CD-ROM販売）だったのでちょっと毛色が違
