総務省は10日、ソフトバンクモバイルが販売するスマートフォン(多機能携帯電話)の「アイフォーン」で、利用者が知らないうちにデータ通信が行われ、通信量に応じて料金が変わる「2段階パケット定額プラン」の場合、当初の説明以上の料金が発生するケースがあるとして、原因の究明と適切な広告表示をするよう行政指導した。 同プランではデータ通信を一定量までしか使わない場合の下限料金は月1029円。しかし、同省とソフトバンクが、購入したままの状態で端末を操作せず放置して検証したところ、4台のうち3台が上限料金の4410円、1台が3000円台後半に達した。アイフォーンの仕様は公開されておらず、通信の内容は分からないという。 ソフトバンクによると、自動的にデータ通信が発生するのはアイフォーンのうちOS(基本ソフト)が「iOS4・0」以上を利用している機種で、4月から告知を始めているという。同日には「過去一部のアイ
