I wrote Python scripts a long time ago. For the past year, I’ve mainly used Julia for my scripting needs. I have a bunch of scripts I need to share with other people and I don’t want to require people to have Julia installed, so I am trying to rewrite my scripts to Python. Here are some of my observations about using Python again after primarily using Julia for my scripting needs. First Impression
Why Juli
Automatic differentiation is a term I first heard of while working on (as it turns out now, a bit cumbersome) implementation of backpropagation algorithm – after all it caused lots of headaches as I had to handle all derivatives myself with almost pen-and-paper like approach. Obviously I made many mistakes until I got my final solution working. At that time, I was aware some libraries like Theano
GitHub https://github.com/matsuken92/Qiita_Contents/blob/mas
By: Blog by Bogumił Kamiński Re-posted from: https://bkamins.github.io/julialang/2024/07/05/main.html Introduction This is my last blog post with the previews of an upcoming Julia 1.11 release. The functionality I want to cover today is an option of defining an entry point to the Julia script. The code was tested under Julia 1.11 RC1. A traditional Julia script Traditionally when writing a Julia s
Symbolic math with juliaIntroductionThe julia language bills itself as "fresh approach to technical computing." By saying "fresh" the implication is that there exists many older approaches to technical computing. Indeed there are. For mathematical areas there are three different philosophies for computing: symbolic, numeric, and general purpose. The symbolic approach is the domain of Computer Alge
Lectures Mondays and Wednesdays, 1:30pm – 3:00pm Lathrop Library 180 Announcements Notebook for 6/27's intro to NumPy/Colab session is available here Welcome to ENGR108, Summer Quarter 2024. We are excited to have you here! About ENGR108 ENGR108 covers the basics of vectors and matrices, solving linear equations, least-squares methods, and many applications. We'll cover the mathematics, but the fo
When I first learned about the Julia programming language, I became very enthusiastic about it. Just look at the feature list from their website: Multiple dispatch: providing ability to define function behavior across many combinations of argument types Dynamic type system: types for documentation, optimization, and dispatch Good performance, approaching that of statically-compiled languages like
