特許でも商標でも特許庁に出願を行なうと所定の手数料がかかります。弁理士の料金とは別の法律で定まった手数料（通称、印紙代）なので、自分で出願した場合でも支払う必要があります。商標の場合は、最低料金（1区分）で12,000円になります。この所定の手数料を支払わないで商標登録出願をする（典型的には特許印紙を貼らないで願書を提出する）とどうなるのでしょうか？この場合でも即時に却下されることはなく、出願としてはいったん受理されます。その後しばらくしてから、方式に違反しているということで、所定の料金を支払えという補正指令が出ます。応答期間（たぶん30日だったと思います）内に、この補正指令に対応して所定の手数料を支払えば問題なく出願が受理されて、実体審査に入ります。応答期間内に支払わないと、その段階で初めて出願が却下になります。つまり、手数料をまったく支払わずに商標登録出願をしても、実際に却下にな
