On Python 2.7 os.makedirs() is missing exist_ok. This is available in Python 3 only. I have two "unlocked" devices, an iPad mini 3, and a Galaxy Edge 6, both endowed with a terminal and a minimalistic set of unix commands. Git treats lines starting with # (hash, number sign, octothorpe, pound sign) as comment lines when committing.
