太陽系のそと｜銀河系 Beyond our solar system: Milky Way galaxy ガラスキューブの中に、銀河系が浮かんでいます。 国立天文台の立体データをもとに、天の川銀河の星々のうち、約８万点をレーザーで打ち込みました。 図鑑で見る銀河系はたいてい平面的。それを四方から眺めてみたかった。比較的近いマゼラン星雲も、このキューブの外。宇宙ってスカスカ…というか疎密が極端です。 最初の制作は、益子のスターネットで開催した「窓」展（2005）。国が定めた利用条件があり、当時すぐには商品化できなかったのですが、関係者が力を尽くしてくださって実売可能になりました。 銀河系が片側に偏っているのは、太陽系（つまり地球）がキューブの中心に位置するようにレイアウトしているから。「太陽系のそと」というタイトルのゆえんです。 私たちの銀河系を、このように外から見たことがある人は、まだ一人
