Mozilla、Firefoxの位置情報把握アドオン「Geode」公開
米Mozilla Corporationの研究部門Mozilla Labsは10月7日、ユーザーがアクセスを許可した場合、Webサイトがユーザーの現在位置情報を取得できる規格「W3C Geolocation Specification」を、Firefoxの次期版で採用する計画を明らかにした。MozillaはGPS、Wi-Fi、手動入力など、ユーザーが幾つかの手法やプロバイダーを選択できるよう、現在開発を進めているという。 今後リリース予定のFirefox 3.1のβ版とモバイル版Firefox（コードネーム「Fennec」）のα版から、同規格を取り入れる計画だ。 またMozillaは同日、位置情報機能を試してみたいユーザー向けに、Firefox 3のアドオンとして「Geode」を公開した。Mozilla Labsのサイトで無料でダウンロードできる。このアドオンを使うと、場所を移動するごとに
