Lesser knowns about Go programming language and its tools. by Jaana Burcu Dogan Tue, Oct 25, 2016 The context package makes it possible to manage a chain of calls within the same call path by signaling context’s Done channel. In this article, we will examine how to use the context package to avoid leaking goroutines. Assume, you have a function that starts a goroutine internally. Once this functio
With the feature set for Go 1.8 now frozen, I thought it would be fun to highlight a few of the more interesting API changes that we can expect to see in Go 1.8 when it’s released around February 1, 2017. HTTP server connection draining At the eleventh hour Brad Fitzpatrick closed a nearly four-year-old issue by implementing connection draining on http.Server. It is now possible to call srv.Close(

The Go Team 10 November 2016 Today marks seven years since we open-sourced our preliminary sketch of Go. With the help of the open source community, including more than a thousand individual contributors to the Go source repositories, Go has matured into a language used all over the world. The most significant user-facing changes to Go over the past year are the addition of built-in support for HT
