独立行政法人 産業技術総合研究所【理事長 吉川 弘之】（以下「産総研」という）は、バイオインフォマティクスを用いた創薬支援技術を中心とした産業技術開発のために、平成19年4月1日付けで産総研・臨海副都心センターに「生命情報工学研究センター」【研究センター長 浅井 潔】を設立しました。 産総研では平成13年度から臨海副都心センターを中心に、コンピュータを用いたゲノム情報解析やタンパク質立体構造予測などのバイオインフォマティクス研究を進めてきました。本研究センターでは、これらの研究を継承・発展させることで、より実用的な技術の開発を目指しており、コンピュータ上で分子設計や副作用予測などを効率よく行う創薬支援技術などを研究・開発します。
