米Google傘下のソーシャルナビゲーション企業、イスラエルWazeは6月6日(現地時間)、ユーザー同士のカープール(相乗り通勤)サービス「RideWith」のテストを開始すると発表した。 まずはテルアビブの都市圏、グッシュ・ダンで通勤ラッシュの時間帯(1日1往復)にのみ利用できるようにする。参加したいWazeユーザーはドライバー向けのRideWithアプリあるいは同乗者向けのWazeアプリをダウンロードしてエントリーする。現在はAndroidアプリのみだが、近くiPhoneアプリもリリースする計画という。 相乗りできるのは1ドライバーにつき1人のみ。ドライバーはアプリで計算するガソリン代や車の損傷代を同乗者に請求できる。料金はアプリを通じてやりとりする。このサービスの目的はあくまでラッシュの軽減とエネルギー消費の削減なので、ドライバーが儲かるようにはなっていない。 ドライバーと同乗者のマ

EMC is spinning out a major line of business, but not the one activist investors had clamored for since last year. Private equity firm Skyview Capital announced Tuesday that it is acquiring the Syncplicity enterprise file sharing unit from EMC.
