11月12日、米Red Hatが開発する新しいプログラミング言語「Ceylon 1.0.0」がリリースされた。「プロダクションリリース」（製品として実用的とされるリリース）という位置付けで、JavaおよびJavaScript環境上で実行できるクロスプラットフォームのプログラムを開発できるという。 Red Hat社内でCeylonプロジェクトを主導するGavin King氏が発表したもの。King氏は2011年の春にCeylonプロジェクトの概要を明らかにしてから2年でのプロダクションリリースになる。King氏はプロジェクトの開始時、Javaのユーザーインターフェイス定義やJava SE SDKに対して「Javaの限界を感じている」としており、Ceylonは強い静的型付け、正規表現文法やツリーライクな構造による読みやすさ、モジュラー性などを特徴とする。 Ceylonで実装されたコードはJav
