上野に向けひた走るブルートレイン「北斗星」。撮影当時は1日2往復だったが、2008年3月からは1往復に。JR北海道所属の余剰車両は、ミャンマーに輸出されることになった=2002年、埼玉県(芹沢伸生撮影) 東京・上野と札幌を結ぶ寝台特急「北斗星(ほくとせい)」。豪華な個室寝台車や食堂車などで知られる北斗星の車両が、近く東南アジアのミャンマーで走ることになった。 今年3月のダイヤ改正で北斗星の運転本数が1日1往復に減少し、余剰となった車両をJR北海道(本社・札幌市)が、ミャンマー側に売却したためだ。JR北海道が海外に車両を売却するのは初めてという。 28日午後6時には、昭和63年の運転開始から20年間にわたって北海道と本州を結んできた車両が北海道釧路市を出発、鉄路で積み出し港のある川崎市に向かった。 JR北海道によると、ミャンマー側に売却されたのは、北斗星に使われた24系客車18両と客車を引っ
