So, I was finding a lot of insecure answers that work-- but the better way isn't much more work, so I've been searching for posts that advise the less secure way of doing SSH related things, like rsync. I had been searching for a mundane way to bypass the unkown host manual interaction of cloning a git repo as shown below but it works for as mentioned rsync and other technologies: brad@computer:~$
I ended up posting a question on the capistrano users list here, and got the following response from Jamis (edited a bit by me here for clarity): Try the HOSTS environment variable: cap HOSTS=app2.example.com production deploy Note that doing this will treat app2 as being in every role, not just whichever role(s) it happens to be declared in. If what you want is to do a regular deploy, but only ac
You're not the first to ask this question :) Let me clarify a couple of things before getting to your questions. Polymer's webcomponents.js is a library that contains several polyfills for various W3C APIs that fall under the Web Components umbrella. These are: Custom Elements HTML Imports <template> Shadow DOM Pointer Events others The left-nav in the documentation (polymer-project.org) has a pag
ah I found the answer by checking what Techcrunch / AOL does. You load the XFBML as the user scrolls. 1.) Don't Parse XFBML on FB.init or the loading of the JS SDK FB.init({ appId : APP_ID, xfbml : false }); 2.) Load jQuery and jquery.sonar.js - this contains scroll and scrollout custom events <script src="//ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1/jquery.min.js"></script> <script src="http://artzst
We're using Capistrano/Webistrano (with Lee Hambley's railsless-deploy gem) to push our PHP application to production servers. I have some custom tasks that get run during various parts of the deploy process. As an example, I have tasks that attempt to stop and restart a jetty solr instance. However, sometimes this bit fails during the deploy, so Capistrano rolls back the entire deploy and reverts

I'm having trouble getting a has_many :through association working with Rails 4's strong parameters. I have a model called Checkout and I need to select a person from the Employee model in the new checkout form. Checkouts and Employees are associated through an Employment model. I'm getting this error when I try to create a new checkout: NoMethodError in CheckoutsController#create undefined method
I'm deploying a railsapp to ubuntu rmagick is installed via "bundle install vendor". it installs , and the app runs -- but this error gets thrown : uninitialized constant Image::Magick when trying to read: source_image = Magick::Image.read("#{Rails.root}/public/system/assets/#{self.id}/original/#{self.asset_file_name}").first I've done the following: uninstsalled, then reinstalled, ImageMagick on
Here is how I got this working. Use the collectiveidea fork of delayed_job besides being actively maintained, this version has a nice script/delayed_job daemon you can use with monit. Railscasts has a good episode about this version of delayed_job (ASCIICasts version). This script also has some other nice features, like the ability to run multiple workers. I don't cover that here. Install monit. I
