This release contains backwards-incompatible changes. Since esbuild is before version 1.0.0, these changes have been released as a new minor version to reflect this (as recommended by npm). You should either be pinning the exact version of esbuild in your package.json file or be using a version range syntax that only accepts patch upgrades such as ~0.12.0. See the documentation about semver for mo
I often see the question "What’s the best Node.js framework?" crop up on message boards and social media. The replies tend to be full of strong opinions. Some developers will even get into arguments about it. If you’re trying to figure out the right framework for your project, none of this is going to be much help. With lots of frameworks to choose from, and all those strong opinions, it’s easy to
As we continue to grow here at Netflix, the needs of Revenue and Growth Engineering are rapidly evolving; and our tools must also evolve just as rapidly. The Revenue and Growth Tools (RGT) team decided to set off on a journey to build tools in an abstract manner to have solutions readily available within our organization. We identified common design patterns and architectures scattered across vari
The third major release of Stimulus represents a big milestone for the Hotwire community. Enumerating and analyzing 40+ non-V8 JavaScript implementations V8 is, I'm sure, the most used implementation of JavaScript today. Used in Chrome, (and by extension) Microsoft Edge, Node.js, etc. Safari's JavaScriptCore and Firefox's SpiderMonkey are also contenders for extremely mainstream implementations. But what else is out there? What if I want to embed JavaScript in a C program, or a Go prog

Rome started off written in JavaScript because that is the language of choice for our team and it made it easier for others in the community to join as contributors. We love JavaScript and TypeScript (and HTML and CSS) at Rome, and we want to build the very best tooling possible for these languages. For a number of reasons, we’ve decided that Rust will provide a better foundation for this tooling.
Today we're announcing the stable release of Lit 2. Lit 2 is a major update: it's smaller, faster and better than before, it lays the foundation for server-side rendering, and it's all wrapped up in the new lit package on npm. Lit has come a long way since April when we announced the first release candidate for Lit 2. Since then, many partners have tested the release candidates on big applications
Hello, and welcome to the MP2 Games tech blog! I’m Mathias, and this is the first entry in what will hopefully become a long series of technical deep dives into some of the work we do at MP2. Recently, we have been working on getting a large JavaScript game to run on game consoles. To make that happen, we made use of ChowJS, our ahead-of-time JavaScript compiler and runtime which can target game c
