米Microsoftは7月20日（米国時間）、Linuxデバイスドライバのソースコード約20000行をLinuxカーネルコミュニティ向けに公開することを発表した。同社がLinuxコミュニティに向けてコードを提供するのは初めてとなり、「重要なマイルストーン」としている。 コードは3種類のLinuxデバイスドライバを含むもので、このコードを利用することで「Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V」または「Windows Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V」上でゲストOSとして動くLinux OSが直接ハイパーバイザーとやりとりできるようになる。これによりLinux仮想マシンをHyper-V上で動作させる場合でもWindows仮想マシンと同様の最適化が得られ、性能を改善できるという。 ソースコードは、Linuxカーネルコミュニティと顧客の両方に向けて公開したもので、Mic
