Wiiが家電業界へ殴り込み!?
次世代ゲーム機の中では非力とはいえ、現行のデジタル家電よりは遥かに強力なプロセッサ性能を活かし、3Dでスムーズに動くテレビ番組表を実現したWiiの「テレビの友チャンネル」。テレビの友チャンネル起動時はWiiリモコンを用いて、チャンネルの切替や音量の変更が可能である（Wiiのセンサバー経由でリモコン信号が出る）。 任天堂「Wii」の新しいチャンネル「テレビの友チャンネル」が3月にリリースされた。ゲーム機からテレビをコントロールできる3D型EPG※1だが、一般にはそれほど話題になってはいない。しかし家電メーカーの中では大騒ぎになっていたはずだ。公開後に関係者と会うと、皆真っ先に話題にするのがこの話だったのだから。なぜそれほど衝撃的だったのか。それは家電業界内で“わかってはいたけれどできなかったこと”をいくつも同時に実現してしまったからだ。 ※1 「Electric Program Guide」
