自然に出来たなんて信じられないアルメニアの柱状節理 人工的に削り出された石材が積みあがっているような光景ですが、自然に出来たものだそうです。 トルコの東側にあるアルメニア共和国の"Garni gorge"という岩壁なのですが、いったいどういうものなのか、写真をご覧ください。 見れば見るほど自然のものとは信じられませんが、柱状節理と言って、マグマが冷却したり地殻変動の際に出来るそうです。 すだれのようになっていますが、溶岩が垂れ落ちる直前に凝固したのでしょうか。 真下に立つと押し潰されそうなすごい迫力。 柱状節理で有名なものに、米国のデビルズ・タワー国定公園や久米島町奥武島の畳石などがあるそうです。奥武島の畳石は2007年に日本の地質百選に選ばれました。 これがデビルズ・タワー。どこかで見たような造形だと思ったら、映画「未知との遭遇」でUFOが降りてくるあの岩山だそうです。SFXシーンでは、

京都の桜は先週末がいちばんの見頃だったようです。これから菜の花やレンゲなどを見に行くのもとても楽しみなのですが、ソメイヨシノの豪華さはやはり圧倒的ですね。 みんな大好き哲学の道の桜。地元人の特権を生かして早朝に来て撮ったのですが、日中の人出はこんなものじゃない…。 哲学の道沿いに多く植えられているミツマタの花。和紙の原料になる植物だそうです。日本銀行券はすべてこの木からできているとか。 しかしまあ花の密度も高いけれど人の密度も高いので、今更おすすめされても…という感じだと思います。 わたしが春の花を楽しむなら、鴨川の上流にある賀茂川か高野川の河川敷です。三条大橋や四条大橋のあたりにも桜はあるけれど、にぎやかな界隈なので等間隔に並んでいるカップルをはじから蹴落として歩くなどの趣向を加えたほうがよさそう。 と思ったらここにもカップルが！ベンチの丸みに背中をそらす運動をせずにはいられないご様子！
