これがOrigami？ Intel、「Ultra Mobile PC」を発表：Intel Developer Forum 米Intelは3月7日、新しい小型PCカテゴリー「Ultra Mobile PC（UMPC）」を発表した。 同社コーポレートバイスプレジデントのショーン・マローニ氏が、Intel Developer Forum（IDF）の基調講演でこの取り組みを明らかにした。 同社はUMPCの特設サイトも設けている。このサイトによると、UMPCは「外出先でのインターネットやエンターテインメント、教育などの利用モデルに最適化され、PCの機能をフルに備える新しいモバイル機器のカテゴリー」。複数のワイヤレス技術が搭載された小型ポータブルマシンで、音楽のダウンロード・再生、テレビ番組や映画の視聴、電子メール、Webサーフィンなどが可能、GPS機能も備えるという。
