99.996%の確率で、暗黒エネルギーの存在を証明
【2012年9月18日 王立天文学会／NOAO】 ドイツとイギリスの大学研究チームが、この宇宙の73%を占めると考えられている正体不明の暗黒エネルギーが99.996%の確率で存在するという研究成果を発表した。 10年前、遠方の超新星の観測から、宇宙が加速膨張していることが明らかになった。重力にさからって膨張を加速させているのは、宇宙の73%を占めるなぞの物質「暗黒エネルギー」である。2011年のノーベル物理学賞はこの功績に対して送られたものだが、暗黒エネルギーの存在そのものについては今も議論の余地がある。 これまでにさまざまな手法で暗黒エネルギーの本質に迫る観測が実施されてきたが、いずれも宇宙の加速膨張を間接的に調べるものであり、また不確実性の影響を受けやすかった。 その存在に関する確実な証拠を初めて理論で示したのが、「ザックス・ヴォルフェ効果」である。その名前は、Rainer Kurt
