米国の公立校にはいま「グーグル化」の波が押し寄せている。3000万人以上もの小中学生(これは全米の半数以上にあたる)がすでにGメールやグーグル・ドキュメントを使い、学校が購入するモバイル端末に関してもクロームブックが過半数を占めているのだ。 たとえば、シカゴの公立小学校の6年生はグーグルのノートPC「クロームブック」を1人1台持って着席する。PCを立ち上げると「グーグル・クラスルーム」というアプリを開き、先生が出した課題を確認。グーグル・ドキュメント上で作文を書きはじめる、といった具合だ。 グーグルがここまで支持されているのは、クロームブックが安価なことに加え、無料のアプリが充実しているためだ。いまや教育の現場では、アップルやマイクロソフトに大差をつけている。 グーグルが学校に目をつけたワケ そもそものきっかけは、企業向けに売られていたGメールとドキュメントのパッケージをアリゾナ州立大学が
