6月17日(日) 南米最大の都市、ブラジル・サンパウロには、104年前に日本からブラジルに移り住んだ人たちがつくり上げた日本人街があります。 その街が今、変化の波にさらされています。 ブラジル・サンパウロの中心部、リベルダージ地区。 400を超える日系の商店が軒を連ね、「日本人街」としては、世界最大規模とも言われている。 日本からの移民が初めてブラジルに到着したのは、104年前の1908年。 日本人街は、1970年代には全盛期を迎えた。 ところが最近では、日本の景気後退で、日本の会社が続々とブラジルから撤退、さらに、日系ブラジル人が日本へ出稼ぎに出るようになり、今では、日系の店舗は最盛期の2割しか残っていない。 ブラジル日本文化福祉協会の中島エドアルド剛さんは「この『一力』というレストランですけどね。これは日本語の名前ですけど、オーナーは中国人ですね」と話した。 代わりに台頭したのが、中国
