【ワシントン＝勝田敏彦】血圧が高い中高年は、脳に何らかの損傷を受けて物忘れしやすい傾向にあることが米アラバマ大バーミングハム校の研究でわかった。高血圧は脳卒中や心臓病などの危険を増すことが知られているが、認知症予備群も生み出していることになる。２５日発行の米神経学会誌ニューロロジーに論文が発表された。 研究チームは、脳卒中を起こしたことがない４５歳以上の米国人約２万人の血圧データと、「今日は何日ですか？」といった認知機能テストの結果を分析。高血圧は「最高血圧１４０ミリＨｇ以上か最低血圧９０ミリＨｇ以上、あるいは高血圧の薬を服用している」と定義されるが、最低血圧が１０ミリＨｇ上がるたびに、認知機能に障害が出る危険が７％ずつ上がることがわかった。 過去の実験研究では、最低血圧が高いと脳の細動脈が弱くなって神経細胞が損傷を受けることがわかっている。チームは「高血圧を治療することで、認知機能障
