Saturday, November 25, 2006 Google Book Searchでブラウジングをしてみる Google Book Searchが改良され、本屋や図書館をブラウジングしている感覚に近くなったと前回記事で書いたが、その内容をもう少し詳しく見てみた。 たとえば、"GOOGLE HACKS"という本を調べて、この本の"About this book" を見てみる。 この画面からいろいろな関連情報に飛んでいくことができるので、機能的にはまさにブラウジングの感覚に近くなってきたといえよう。 関心のあるテーマでヒットした本が、この例のようにすべての関連項目が埋まっている場合は、なかなか面白い情報源になってくるだろう。 "Keywords and phrases" では、この本のなかの関連キーワード、フレーズが示されており、該当ページを見ることができる。 "Search in

Thursday, November 23, 2006 Google Book Searchが一段と精錬され見やすくなり、本屋をぶらついているような感じに近づいた。 下記の記事が紹介しているように、Google Book Searchのユーザーインターフェースが大幅に改良され、きれいで見やすくなっている。 スクロールでページがめくれる「Google Book Search」の新UI公開 タイトルや本文、インデックスなどスキャンされた内容をスクロールバーで上下しながら見ることができ、画面を拡大、縮小したりフル画面にすることもできる。 "Search in this book" が結構便利だと思う。 スキャンされた目次、本文、インデックスのなかをキーワードで検索できる。 たとえば左は、"Gmail" についての記述がこの本にどの程度あるかを調べたもので、該当ページが一覧でき、ページをクリックす
