乳幼児期に親からよくほめられる子供は、他人を思いやる気持ちなどの社会適応力が高くなることが、科学技術振興機構の長期追跡調査で明らかになった。育児で「ほめる」ことの重要性が、科学的に証明されたのは初めて。3月7日に東京都内で開かれるシンポジウムで発表する。 筑波大の安梅勅江(あんめときえ)教授(発達保健学)らの研究チームは、2005~08年、大阪府と三重県の計約400人の赤ちゃんに対し、生後4か月、9か月、1歳半、2歳半の時点で成長の度合いを調査した。調査は親へのアンケートや親子の行動観察などを通して実施。自ら親に働きかける「主体性」や相手の様子に応じて行動する「共感性」など、5分野25項目で評価した。 その結果、生後4~9か月時点で父母が「育児でほめることは大切」と考えている場合、その子供の社会適応力は1歳半時点で明らかに高くなった。また、1歳半~2歳半の子供に積み木遊びを5分間させたとき
