米Microsoftは1月5日、Windowsの次期バージョンは、ARMアーキテクチャを含むシステム・オン・チップ(SoC)設計をサポートするとConsumer Electronics Show(CES)で発表した。 MicrosoftはNVIDIA、QUALCOMM、Texas Instruments(TI)と提携し、次期版Windowsはこれらパートナーが提供するARMベースのシステムで動作する。x86アーキテクチャに関しては、IntelとAMDがWindowsをフルサポートする省電力SoC設計を開発する。 Microsoftはこの日、Intelのx86アーキテクチャを使ったSoCプラットフォームと、NVIDIA、QUALCOMM、TIのSoCプラットフォームで動作する次期版Windowsのデモも行った。デモではARMでネイティブに動作するOfficeも披露した。 昨年から人気が急上昇
