Keita USHIDA :: Helvetica & Arial
おそらく世界中でもっとも有名なサンセリフ書体，Helvetica。Mac OS には標準添付。一方で，Windows に標準添付され，圧倒的な使用者数を誇る Arial。この 2 書体，そっくりなのである。実際，一方が他方の代用として使われることもある（もっぱら，Arial が Helvetica の代用として使われるケースが多い）。注意して見ていないとあるいは気づかない。しかしよく見ると細部が違う。 ここが違う，Helvetica と Arial 上に示したのは，32 ピクセルサイズでカーニング（字詰め処理）をオフにし，アルファベットの大文字・小文字，数字と主な記号，を Helvetica と Arial でタイプしたもの。ぱっと見気づくのは，Arial のアットマーク「@」が大きいくらいで，ほかは大変よく似ている。ちなみに文字幅は，（少なくともこのサイズでは）ぴたりと一致している。
