April 20, 2017 Writing a Time Series Database from Scratch I work on monitoring. In particular on Prometheus, a monitoring system that includes a custom time series database, and its integration with Kubernetes. In many ways Kubernetes represents all the things Prometheus was designed for. It makes continuous deployments, auto scaling, and other features of highly dynamic environments easily acces
This incident affected the database (including issues and merge requests) but not the git repo's (repositories and wikis). Timeline (all times UTC): 2017/01/31 16:00/17:00 - 21:00 YP is working on setting up pgpool and replication in staging, creates an LVM snapshot to get up to date production data to staging, hoping he can re-use this for bootstrapping other replicas. This was done roughly 6 hou
I have never seen a paper talking about gay marriage that was entertaining, doesn't matter if you're for or against it, still an entertaining read, now THAT's how articles about current issues should be written! That was pretty cool. Things like this is what keeps me coming back. This and your fiction. As to the "ban all marriage," I've thought similarly recently. It occurred to me that the whole

If you want data persistence in your Go application, most likely you're thinking of using some database. The easiest and probably the most convenient for deployment are embedded databases. There are many wrappers for C databases, however Go developers usually prefer pure Golang solutions. Bolt is the way to go: it's a pure Go embedded key/value database, which is easy to use for persistence in you
Intro to BoltDB: Painless Performant Persistence Jul 7, 2014 BoltDB is a pure Go persistence solution that saves data to a memory mapped file. I call it a persistence solution and not a database, because the word database has a lot of baggage associated with it that doesn’t apply to bolt. And that lack of baggage is what makes bolt so awesome. Bolt is just a Go package. There’s nothing you need to
An article by Sarah Mei titled "Why you should never use MongoDB" discusses the issues you’ll run into if you try to use a NoSQL database when a relational database would be far superior. An example of this is when data that was thought to be in a silo needs to cross boundaries (what relational DBs are great at). Another example is when you store a user’s name in various places for easy access, bu
