Microsoft、Office更新プログラムの配布を巡る不具合を修正
米Microsoftは、9月10日に公開した月例セキュリティ更新プログラムの一部について配布を巡るトラブルが報告されたとして、不具合を修正して再リリースしたことを明らかにした。 MicrosoftのOffice Updatesブログに9月13日付で掲載された情報によると、Office関連の更新プログラムの一部について、繰り返しインストールを促されたり、逆にWindows Server Update Services（WSUS）やSystem Center Configuration Manager（SCCM）経由で更新プログラムが配布されないといったトラブルの報告が寄せられたという。 このため同社で調査して原因を突き止め、改めて更新プログラムを配布して、問題を修正したとしている。対象となるのは以下の更新プログラム。 SharePoint Serverの更新プログラム（S13-067）：Sh

マイクロソフト、自動アップデート技術めぐり特許侵害訴訟に直面
Microsoftが新たな特許権侵害訴訟に直面している。今回は、WindowsやOfficeなどのプログラムの自動アップデートに使用されている技術が問題となっている。 BackWeb Technologiesは、米国時間3月20日にサンフランシスコの連邦地方裁判所に提出した申し立てで、Microsoftの「Background Intelligent Transfer Service」（BITS）のほか、「Windows Update」などの製品が、BackWebの特許4件を侵害していると主張している。BackWebはイスラエルに拠点を置く企業で、カリフォルニア州サンノゼに米国オフィスを持っている。 BackWebは特に、Microsoftに対する差し止め命令とBackWebの特許が有効であることの宣言、損害賠償金を求めている。 Microsoftの関係者は、同社はまだ裁判所文書を受け取っ

マイクロソフト、Windows Vista 用の更新プログラム 「KB937287」の配布を中止
Microsoftは、システムで問題が発生したというユーザーからの苦情を受け、「Windows Vista Service Pack 1」を使用する上で必要とされるソフトウェアの自動配布を停止した。 先週リリースされたアップデート「KB937287」には、Windows Vistaインストールソフトウェアのアップデートが含まれており、「Windows Vista SP1を問題なくインストール、アンインストールするためにすべてのバージョンのWindows Vistaで必要」とされている。 MicrosoftのプロダクトマネージャーNick White氏がブログに寄せたエントリによると、同社は米国時間2月20日、このアップデートの自動配信を停止したという。 White氏は「KB937287が原因で、ユーザーが問題に直面する可能性があるという報告をいくつか受けている」と述べている。「このエラーに
