HathiTrust訴訟，第二審でフェアユースが一部認められる 米国作家協会（Authors Guild），オーストラリア，カナダ等の著作権団体などが， HathiTrust（CA1760参照）と，これに参加していた大学図書館5館（コーネル大学，ミシガン大学，カリフォルニア大学，ウィスコンシン大学，インディアナ大学）に対して起こしていた著作権侵害訴訟で，ニューヨークにある連邦第二巡回区控訴裁判所が2014年6月10日に，判決を出した。同裁判所は，HathiTrustにおける著作物の利用の一部について，米国著作権法の第107条に規定されるフェアユース（Fair Use）に当たり，著作権団体側による著作権侵害の主張を否定する等の判断をした。 HathiTrustは，デジタル複製物の共同運営リポジトリHathiTrust電子図書館（HDL）の運営をしている。現在では，約90の研究機関が参加し，1

2014年1月24日、HathiTrustが2013年の年次活動報告をウェブに掲載しています。米国デジタル公共図書館（DPLA）や，デジタル保存ネットワーク（DPN）との共同のほか、新たにカナダやオーストラリアを含む14機関との連携があったことなどが紹介されています。また、連携機関は278,766件をリポジトリに登録し、そのうち、263,525件はパブリックドメインであったとのことです。 なお2013年の新たな連携先は以下の14機関です。 ・Allegheny College ・Brown University ・Colby College ・Temple University ・Tufts University ・University of Alabama ・University of Alberta （カナダ） ・University of British Columbia （カナダ）
